Newcomers Welcoming

The Holy Spirit Newcomers Welcoming Committee greets visiting parishioners once a month at all weekend liturgies. The Welcoming Committee hosts periodic gatherings for newly registered parishioners to help them become acquainted with the many ministries, organizations, and opportunities offered by our community.  For more information about joining this committee, visit our Parish Contacts page.

Catholics Returning Home

We know that life always has ups and downs, twists, and turns. Maybe you decided to leave decades ago or maybe it was just this morning. Maybe you never really decided one way or the other, but just sort of drifted away. Maybe you felt burned or betrayed by an individual who was supposed to represent the Church. Maybe you thought the Church was too full of hypocrites or maybe you thought you were too much of a hypocrite to stay. Whatever your situation, we want it to be very clear that there is a place for you here with us!

The Returning Catholics process is for Catholics who have drifted away from the Catholic Church and want to become reacquainted. Some drift away after college, some are hurt after a disagreement with a church person, and some just get busy and fall out of the habit of attending. Whatever the reason for leaving, the Returning Catholics process is geared at welcoming Catholics back and helping them to feel better connected to the Church while updating them on current Church teaching.

Adult Confirmation

Adult Confirmation is part of the Returning Catholics process (since much of the information is the same). If you are an adult (over 18 years of age) and have not been confirmed, you may attend the Returning Catholics process this Spring, and then you will be eligible for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

How do I return?

If you simply stopped coming on your own, all you need to do is make a good confession! We offer confessions every Wednesday and Friday from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, or by appointment. If you would like to talk to someone beforehand, please contact us and we would be happy to help you. Do not be afraid, ashamed, or embarrassed if it has been a while and you do not really remember how to go to confession, Fr. Mark & Fr. Julio would be happy to assist you!

What if I am divorced?

We understand that there are many people that still shoulder the weight and pain of divorce. Let us help you bear the load. The first step is to contact us and set up an appointment with Deacon Jose Santos. We can help you find healing and closure.

What if I was baptized Catholic, but missed First Communion?

You’re not alone! If Catholicism is mostly new to you, it is probably best for you to look at our RCIA program. RCIA stands for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Contact us and we can help you find the right program.

What if I was raised Catholic, but missed Confirmation?

Again, you’re not alone! There are a few different programs that we offer, depending on your situation. Contact us and we will make sure that you get into the right spot.

What if my question was not covered on this page?

Don’t worry! No matter what your situation is, we can help you return to the Catholic Church.

Please contact us at [210] 341-1395, we would love to hear from you and offer help in whatever way we can!
